Troubleshooting LoopSort
Fixes for the most common LoopSort problems: a missing LoopSort section, an empty field list, numbers or dates in the wrong order, an empty grid after adding a filter, and a Sort Control that does nothing.
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The LoopSort section is missing | Is Elementor Pro active and version 4.2 or later? Is the widget a Loop Grid (or, with Pro, a Loop Carousel)? Is the source “Current Query”? Then the section is hidden. |
| The Field list is empty | The source has no single-value fields assigned to this post type. Check the field group’s location rules, or choose Meta key and type the key. |
| Numbers sort as 1, 10, 2, 20… | Set Compare values as to Numeric (or Decimal). |
| Dates sort wrongly | Use a date type that matches how the field is stored (Pro shows a hint next to listed fields). ACF dates are stored as YYYYMMDD. |
| The grid is empty after adding a filter | A filter that can’t be applied safely (unknown key, wrong value format) makes the grid empty on purpose. Re-check the key, condition and value type. |
| The Sort Control does nothing | With several grids, does Loop Grid CSS ID match the grid’s Advanced → CSS ID? Is the grid’s Advanced → Cache set to “Yes”? Set it to Default. |
| The visitor’s choice is lost behind a cache | Make your cache keep the loopsort and loopsort_device query strings. |
A hidden key such as _my_field is rejected | Keys starting with _ are private by WordPress convention and blocked (public WooCommerce keys excepted). Expose the value under a public key instead. |
